One Month Later......

It has now been one month since Barack Obama assumed the office of President. During that month he and the congress have been very busy. He bullied his way to passing the Economic Stimulus Package, has been issuing executive orders left and right to reverse many of the policies of the past 8 years, and driving the stock market further into the dirt. He is making hay while the sun shines and the long range effects may not be known for years to come.

Philosophically I will never believe that government is the answer to anything but national defense. In fact I believe it is government meddling in the private sector, artificially propping up segments of the economy to avoid declines and penalizing others to further a political agenda, that is responsible for the mess we are in. Sure there will always be crooks out there "tricking" people into doing foolish things but the government encouraged these sub-prime mortgages to prop up the housing industry. The fact is that the vast majority of people are making their mortgage payments just fine because they did not participate in a fraud to acquire their mortgage. But they will have to help pay for this fraud and reward these individuals for their misdeeds.

Has this been a productive month for the Democrats? Absolutely! Will the programs to be implemented by the stimulus plan be effective. In my opinion, marginally at best. At a minimum we will add another $1 trillion to the national debt that future generations will have to deal with. That is the legacy we pass on and I am not very proud of it.
