Coming Attractions

This time a year the news media seem to be obsessed with reviewing the past year. This year being what they call the end of the decade they have been focused on the past ten years. What an opportunity to showcase the Anointed One as compared to the Spawn of the Devil, George Bush.

As you might guess I have quite a different perspective on the past. The importance of history lies in that you understand it so as to not repeat it. I give not a whit about the past because you really can't do anything about it. We tend to downplay the bad times and idealize the good ones and after all is said and done such folly along with $1.00 might buy you a cup of coffee.

So as 2010 dawns in a few hours I will give some predictions, both good and bad. I have nothing to go on except my observational powers and my gut. Frankly I hope most of them do not come to pass.

1. I believe that we will suffer a major terror attack in 2010. I know, this is a no-brainer after the Christmas Day attempt. We got REAL lucky that the plane was not exploded over Michigan! Other than our intelligence agencies STILL not talking to each other, the Appeaser-in-Chief has been on his world wide tour trying to play nice with that vermin. They only see it as a sign of weakness and have been ratcheting up their activity over the last half on 2009.

2. The Congress will pass a health care reform bill. Bend over and grab your ankles because, if you work and pay taxes, you will take a hit to the wallet. Hopefully they will water down what has passed so far so that the impact will be diluted but, never fear, they will keep coming back until they get all that they want. The only glimmer of hope lies in a strong backlash from their constituents that will make the weasels backtrack. Obviously the only thing more important than the government controlling our lives is that those currently in power are the ones doing it.

3. Sometime in 2010 the news media will get tired of Obama's shtick blaming everything on Bush and actually see him for the fraud he is. Eventually the lack of real job creation will become his fault. I expect the unemployment rate to remain above 9% all year. In fact I could see it staying at 10% or better.

4. Dick Cheney will continue to be a thorn in Obama's side. As Obama continues to flounder on foreign policy matters Cheney will exploit every opportunity to gig his butt. Besides, Cheney is old, has more money than God, and has nothing better to do. Enjoy your retirement, Dick!

5. Rush Limbaugh will continue to be the big winner from the Obama administration. He makes more money than Dick Cheney and the more the press demonizes him the more he makes. What a country! It is amazing that this guy with one semester of college continues to fluster all of those ivy league-rs. Let's pray for a quick recovery.

Sounds pretty cheery, huh? I hope items 1, 2, and 3 above do not come to pass but I look forward to numbers 4 & 5 for the entertainment value. These are serious times and the future of our country is in the balance. I keep hoping for a strong opposition leader to emerge but for now we will just have to settle for Cheney and Rush.

Happy New Year everyone!!!!

468 Job Openings - Only Leaders Need Apply

This was suppose to be an off year for politics. What with Lord Obama being elected and slated to bring us all together, heal the racial divide, and lead the U.S. to its former glory. The Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate so The Anointed One was going to get us a national health program, a climate change treaty, and punish those "evil rich people" for their success. So what happened? A stimulus package that was suppose to keep the unemployment rate below 8% was passed. The package turned out to be back-end loaded and really had minimal stimulus impact on the economy. The last I checked the national unemployment rate was 10% and getting it below 8% is a long-term dream. All of his other major legislation packages have met a solid opposition from the Republicans and a sizable resistance from his fellow Democrats. While he may eventually pass Health Care Reform it will be a mere shadow of what they came into office wanting to pass.

But wait! This is just the first of four years of the Obama presidency so he still has three years to tilt the windmills and lead us to the European style socialism that he seems to covet. The new Utopia that he thinks we want is still within reach. Well, apparently such is not the case. This is because the most important thing for a politician is not serving the people but to serve themselves. After the first of the year all of the members of the House and one-third of the senators will start running for re-election. And because we can't live without them they will begin positioning themselves for the primary and then the general election in November. The Democrats will attempt to move to the center and the Republicans to the right. With a socialist in the White House the likelihood of any significant legislation getting passed is remote. This is a good thing for most of us. Then, of course next year begins to race for 2012 and the president will try to move to the center and basically get nothing done until after the election in 2012.

Does this process sound familiar to you? Is should because we have been following this pathetic game plan since Ronald Reagan rode off to California. America has had a leadership shortage for the past 20 years and the prospects of improvement are bleak. Sure when they are running for election they will tell you what great leaders they are but once we elect them they fall victim to the narcotic effect of power and it becomes their drug. Their egos will not allow them to consider what is best for their constituents as much as kissing some more senior politician's butt to get a more visible committee assignment, thereby enhancing their political standing in Washington. Ever notice how they will about knock each other over to get microphone or camera time? They spend hours jockeying for position around the president just because they know that the media is going to be all over him. Kind of like the ugly guy going out with the good looking guy just hoping to get some of his rejects! I am embarrassed for them and us.

Here is my pipe dream solution to this problem. Term limits. Six years for reps and 12 years for senators. The era of the professional politician needs to end and these bozos need to be forced to rejoin the citizenry so they can experience the results of their efforts. Of course getting term limits past would require that they consider OUR best interests and not theirs. That is not likely to happen with this group of knuckleheads. So here is what we do. We seek out candidates that commit, on a contract, that, if elected, they will not seek re-election past a specified term. When they try to craw fish on it you take their ass to court and/or make sure they do not have the opportunity to serve an additional term. Show them this is a serious issue and back it up. We just keep re-electing these guys and it's time we show some leadership as an electorate!

Phantom Jobs

Right after Lord Obama was anointed President he and his Democrat buddies brought forth a stimulus package that was purported to be just what we needed to pull this country out of the recession. He promised that the unemployment rate would be held at 8% or lower as a result of spending the $797 billion. Many were skeptical but Congress gave him the benefit of the doubt and passed the package. According to Lord Obama all should be right in the world by now.

Of course anyone that isn't living under a rock knows that all of the above was either a lie or a case of colossal stupidity. I choose to think it was an ample dose of both. The unemployment rate sits at 10%, what few REAL jobs that were created were government jobs which do nothing to improve the economy. In fact over 80% of the aforementioned stimulus money will not be spent until next year with most of that targeted to pork barrel projects of the Democrats. What really burns me is how those idiots go around the country lying about the number of jobs that were created in non-existent congressional districts and only a couple of their sycophants in the media will even check them out.

In light of this what the hell was that jobs summit on Thursday about? The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which represents millions of small businesses in this country, was not invited. Neither was the trade association for manufacturers. Why, you might ask? Because they oppose the health care legislation snaking its way through the Senate. So they filled the room with a group of people that have kissed the ring of Lord Obama to listen to him talk and show the American people HE CARES. And of course he did talk! Some of the braver participants suggested tax incentives to encourage job creation (that is the last time they will be invited!) So in reality the day was about listening to a guy that has never created a job in his life (or even met a payroll) talk about how he is going to do it. The attendees were merely extras and supporting cast in his performance art. The "discussion groups" were all about the show and the only job growth we MAY see will be the expansion of the size of government.

Before you tell me that those are better than nothing I will remind you that every additional dollar spent by the federal government is borrowed money that will have to be repaid one day. The money to repay this must come from growth in the private sector. So what should be happening is that our bloated federal bureaucracy needs about 25% of the jobs cut just from lack of productivity. Real incentives should be given to stimulate jobs in the private sector, especially in manufacturing. Also real tax relief for people that actually pay income taxes. I have always been puzzled why the people that pay no income taxes should get any rebate or refund. THEY DIDN'T PAY ANYTHING SO WHY SHOULD THEY GET ANYTHING BACK?!!!!!!

So if you expect to see the unemployment rate lower than 7% anytime soon I want some of what you are smoking. Nothing is being done to instill the confidence in our economy for business to risk expansion. With these idiots focused on health care, cap and trade, and global warming there is nothing positive for them in the future. With some luck these issues will be defeated and the damage from this administration will be minimized. We can pray for that!
